Our food preparation/no-cook sessions offer children and young people the opportunity to learn new skills by preparing a cold snack/meal with immediate rewards!

This session is great where facilities are limited whilst giving the young people hands-on practical experience.

  • Vegetable identification and origins
  • Use of senses
  • Food hygiene and personal safety
  • Safe knife skills
  • Exploring new foods

  • This session works in most environments
  • Is best for groups upto 25 people
  • 1 1/2 - 2 hours session
  • Relevant to all ages
  • The recipes are usually adaptable to different tastes and allergies
  • No cooking involved
  • Facilities:  table, sink, hot water

Omar's (aged 10) comments "My mum doesn't let me use a knife at home but now I know how to use one I can go home and help her make dinner. I'd like to help her."

HAF activity provider (2024) "Every time they [FFC] come to visit us they bring a new recipe that excites and engages the children.  They somehow manage to get everyone involved and at least trying some new foods."
