Our funding supporters

“It absolutely is all about your enthusiasm and skills that made the opportunity really special.”

Bournemouth Gateway

"They are outward facing and have food security at the heart. They meet people where they are at. They are constantly exploring other ways to work in a creative way. They are professional and all they do is to an amazing standard."

Naomi Mason, Senior Health Programme Advisor, Public Health Dorset

Our partners know that our approach works. With the support of our lottery-funded evaluation partner, we contacted 15 community partners with whom we had worked with regularly, with ten questions to help us understand our impacts. 12 of our partners responded. 100% of respondents agreed that The Friendly Food Club:

  • Supports people most in need
  • Helps to reduce barriers to eating healthy, low-cost meals
  • Provides high-quality, accessible support
  • Promotes healthy eating messages in a relaxed, informal and inclusive way
  • Helps to increase skills and knowledge amongst members of the community

More words from our partners about the value of their partnership with The Friendly Food Club has benefited members of their community:

"Through attendance at sessions I've heard first hand how the funding, through you, has benefitted attendees and their families. Even short chats have highlighted benefits around feeling more motivated, enjoying the connection through sessions, reduced anxiety amnd children benefitting directly through healthier food options at home."

Emily Brown, Communities Team, Dorset Council

“Hosting these sessions has been really beneficial in educating and highlighting healthy eating to our clients. Through substance misuse many have had a decline in health, or they are living in accommodation that has limited their ability to cook healthy food. Learning to cook cost effectively and simply has given the clients a real boost and being able to do this together as a group has brought them together even more so as a community. We are very grateful to have collaborated with the Friendly Food Club and hope the funding and opportunity continues for our clients.”

Paula Loader, With You

“Friendly Food Club is an excellent activity and very popular with the young people. The ladies who take the session always establish really good relationships with the young people,  There was a lot of laughing at the last session. They are always happy to go the extra mile and on the last occasion included three older young people who visited the club towards the end of the session. They have a good understanding of how young people work and tailor their sessions to get the best out of each one. Always an enjoyable event.”

Bob Croomb, Youth Lead, Purbeck Family Hub

“All members and staff have agreed we’d love to welcome you back in the future”
